Where is Juli Healy??

What do the League of Women Voters of the Mother Lode, the Twain Harte Chamber of Commerce, and the Local Child Care Planning Council all have in common? Yes, they are all community nonprofits. Yes, their missions are all to benefit the community. And, as readers may not know, each has offered to host and moderate a candidate forum for District 2 Supervisor. Incumbent candidate Ryan Campbell has accepted each invitation. His challenger, first-time candidate Juli Healy, has refused all three.

Why, you wonder. Is she afraid to appear alongside Ryan Campbell in a nonpartisan environment? Is she light on County policy and local issues while touting her family roots? Does she simply lack knowledge or understanding of the concerns brought before the Board of Supervisors?

Voters need access to candidates to make an informed choice. A nonpartisan forum gives citizens a venue to hear candidates’ views and compare their stands on the principal issues facing Tuolumne County. The community deserves a candidate forum for District 2.
