Check the status of your voter registration online

If you have changed circumstances, such as a new address, you may need to update your registration.

Go to https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/ and follow the instructions.

Register at least 15 days before an election

Online: Go to https://registertovote.ca.gov/ and complete the application instructions.

Note: You will need the following items to register online.

  1. Your California driver’s license or state I.D. card number,

By mail or hand delivery, you must complete a paper application form and deliver it to the U.S. Post Office (for postmark) or the county elections office. Online instructions are available to help complete the form.

To request a paper application form by mail, call (800) 345-VOTE(8683) or (916) 657-2166.

You can pick up a paper application form at these locations:

  1. County elections office,
  2. Library,
