Did you receive a mailer opposing mid-term redistricting of California congressional maps? One of at least two direct mail advertisements to Tuolumne County residents included quotes represented as supporting a position against Proposition 50 (Election Rigging Response Act) in the November 4 special election.

The mailer from Protect Voters First/Hold Politicians Accountable, a political committee funding a $10 million campaign against Prop. 50, featured a quote from Gloria Chun Hoo, president of the state League of Women Voters (LWV). The quote was mischaracterized, implying that the LWV endorses the committee’s position. In fact, the LWV did not authorize the use of the quote and will not take a position on Proposition 50.
