Apply Now to the Woodsmoke Reduction Program

It’s almost woodsmoke season! Fall and winter are prime wood-burning seasons in Tuolumne County, affecting our air quality. Lowered air quality–when there is more particulate matter in the air than is healthy–can cause problems for people with asthma and other respiratory issues.
Luckily, California Climate Investments, a statewide fund supporting programs to help California reach its low-carbon goals, offers Tuolumne County residents the opportunity to reduce their production of woodsmoke and improve the air quality for themselves and their neighbors. The fund’s Woodsmoke Reduction Program incentivizes households to replace an uncertified wood stove or insert with a cleaner-burning and more efficient certified device.
To be eligible for the program, an applicant must be a Tuolumne County resident and use an uncertified woodstove or wood insert as a primary heat source. The incentive amount depends on where the property is located and the applicant’s household income. The replacement device must be installed by a professional, licensed installer and meet local fire and building codes. No income verification is required to qualify for a standard incentive. This program maximizes benefits to households located in disadvantaged and low-income communities or on tribal lands and has a goal to distribute 75 percent of total funding to these populations.
Many Tuolumne County residents have already benefited from this program! If you qualify, apply today and help improve the air quality in Tuolumne County.
